This presentation will provide information about the new 2025 diabetes guidelines updates published by the American Diabetes Association. Updates to diagnosis, monitoring, lifestyle, and long-term concerns will be outlined as well as highlights of new evidence. Emphasis will be placed on medication treatment for T2DM.

Dr. Terri Schmitt is a Family Nurse Practitioner, educator, and diabetes specialist with more than 25 years of clinical experience in advanced practice across family, pediatrics, endocrinology, and chronic disease management. As Executive Director of NPACE, she leads national continuing education initiatives and brings a strong focus on evidence based care, clinical quality, and practical, applicable learning for advanced practice clinicians. In her clinical role with Galileo Health, she provides primary and chronic disease care with emphasis on diabetes management, patient education, and improving access for diverse populations – creating their diabetes education program and serving as consultant to other providers on complex diabetes cases. Dr. Schmitt’s academic work includes teaching and leading in one of the country’s largest FNP programs and contributing to diabetes education through research, national presentations, and curriculum development. A Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and a member of multiple APP organizations- she is most recognized for her 3-legged Boston Terrier with spina bifida and her love of all things John Mayer.
