HEENT Emergencies for ED and Urgent Care Providers

Head, Eye, Ear, Nose, and Throat (HEENT) complaints are among the most frequent presentations in urgent and emergency care settings—ranging from simple nuisances to life-threatening emergencies. This dynamic session will equip healthcare providers with the skills and confidence to recognize, assess, and manage a wide spectrum of HEENT conditions. Participants will review common presentations such as foreign bodies, infections, cerumen impaction, and epistaxis, while also exploring high-acuity concerns including acute glaucoma, facial trauma, and Ludwig’s angina. Emphasis will be placed on evidence-based assessment, timely intervention, and patient education strategies. By the end of the session, attendees will leave with practical tools and renewed knowledge to enhance clinical decision-making and improve outcomes for patients presenting with HEENT complaints in urgent and emergency care.
